Today’s special ialah Fried Mussels. Yeah..yeah.. yesterday I went harvesting mussels at Pak n Save..guess what it was NZD1.79/kg which cheaper than its usual NZD 2.99/kg.
If you are cooking shell-like seafood ..the first thing to do after back from the store is to clean them…then if possible … cook them straight away …
Ok … If you like it ‘steamed’ or rebus …be my guest ..ape pun tips untuk ‘merebus’ seafood yg berkerang ( betul ke bahasa ni??) ni ialah jangan letak air ..Aiks.. kata rebus apsal lak tak letak air!!
Jwpnya: Dulu-dulu..memang slalu kalau rebus kerang ..masa paling tak best ialah kopek isi kerang ..Aduh..memang berchenta cik siti..sbb air kerang ni gatal ler. So, satu hari Mak kite pun mendapat petua..i.e masa masak kerang jgn letak air..dah basuh bersih-bersih masuk dalam periuk n tutup..untuk nak mewangikan dia..letak
ok kita balik pada resipi nyer.
After we steamed the mussels (should be about 5-10 minutes)..get rid of their shells and we are ready for the next process which is preparing the coating mixture.
Ingredients :
5-table spoon of flour
2-table spoon of rice flour
1-tea spoon black pepper
1-tea spoon pepper
1-table spoon chili powder ( kalau nk pedas tambah ler lagi..)
pinch of salt ( secukupnya).
Water
Minyak untuk menggoreng
Note: Ingredients should be proportional to the amount of Mussels meat. The above would accommodate 1 bowl of Mussels meat.
Mix everything from the ingredient list to the consistency of “tepung goreng pisang “ .
Dip Mussels meat into the mixture and fry until it turn into golden brown.
Serve with lemon juice or plum ketchup or kicap limau + cili padi..and
Mussels kali ni agak kecik-kecik..kulit jek besar.. that's why murah..keh keh keh..
